Kala Namak salt is a black hand-mined rock salt, found naturally, deep in the mountains of Pakistan.
In India, it is heated to very high temperatures and mixed with the seeds of the harad fruit from the Terminalia chebula tree.
Its iron, magnesium and sulfur content contribute to the salt’s colour, smell and taste.
Kala Namak is praised in Ayurveda and vegan kitchen and used for its perceived medical qualities.
It adds a fine savoury taste to your dishes similar to the taste of cooked eggs.
